You fire a semi-translucent purple and black ray that passes through an enemy, removing part of their life force. You must succeed on a caster check with the ray to deal damage to a target. If successful, the creature is sickened for 2d3 rounds and must make a Will save or have its hit points reduced to 1/5 of its current amount, rounding up. If the creature successfully saves against the spell it still becomes sickened and takes 1 negative level. If the subject has at least as many negative levels as Hit Dice, it dies. Assuming the subject survives, the negative level disappears (without requiring a Fortitude save) after a number of hours equal to your caster level (maximum 17).

An undead creature struck by this spell gains 3d10x5 temporary hit points for 1 hour.
