Requirements
To contact your deity or their agents, you must call upon them in a site dedicated to your faith. You need 500 gp worth of supplies to consecrate the area to your task. This is often done in conjugation with spell preparation. The ritualist is considered helpless during the casting time.
Challenges
There are two potential risks to the ritualist attempting to commune with their deity. First, since the end of the NewGods War deities have tired to not interfere directly with the lives of mortals. Faithful who use commune for frivolous request gain 1d8 points of disapproval or suffer a curse of unluck. Second, agents oppose to the ritualist’s faith may try to interfere or kill the ritualist during this ritual.
Practice
You contact your deity—or agents thereof—and ask questions that can be answered by a simple yes or no. You are allowed three questions. The answers given are correct within the limits of the entity's knowledge. "Unclear" is a legitimate answer, because powerful beings of the Realms Beyond, Be-tween, and Within are not necessarily omniscient. In cases where a one-word answer would be mis-leading, a short phrase of five words or less may be given as an answer instead.
